Important Reminders!

  • Water bottle update: due to the amount of spills occurring in the gym, please send your athlete with a leak proof water bottle. If your athlete shows up with a water bottle that is not spill proof (such as the straw top Stanley), they will be required to keep the water bottle in their locker/cubby.
  • As the days are getting warmer and longer, we may have athletes walk/run around the walking path outside. Please remind your athlete to bring running shoes to practice!
  • Remind your athlete to bring hair binders or keep hair binders in their gym bag in case they forget a binder or if their binder snaps.
  • Please remind athletes to speak up to their coaches if they are having any pain in the gym that is not normal soreness. If there is any pain that persists for more than a week despite modifying practices (such as no running and tumbling), please reach out to Carly for the next step!
  • Please park in a parking spot when picking up/dropping off your athletes. We want to keep these athletes safe, thank you for your attention in this matter!

Competition Recap

Gopher Invite:

Jam Hops Gold/Platinum/Diamond competed at the Gopher meet in Shakopee, MN. The athletes did a great job! Gold took 2nd and Diamond placed 3rd! There were 2 diamond and 3 platinums that qualified for the event finals, a couple athletes even broke team records!

State Meet 2024:

Gold/Platinum/Diamond athletes participated in the State Championship last month! With 40+ teams and 900+ athletes, there was some tough competition! All the athletes were amazing, some taking personal records, some breaking gym records, but all of them showing off their best gymnastics! Gold placed 9th out of 44, Platinum placed 15th out of 31, and Diamond placed 8th out of 20! Way to go athletes!

The last meet for these athletes is the Region 4 Championship in April, wish them luck!

Summer Schedule - Tentative!

Click the links to view the tentative summer schedule and tentative summer groups. Please remember that your athlete was placed in the group that best aligns with their skill level to allow the most progression. Level decisions will not be decided until end of July for Bronze/Silver and end of October for Gold/Platinum/Diamond. The schedule and groups are tentative and may change. Please reach out if you have questions or concerns. Summer schedule will start June 10th

2024 Summer Xcel tentative groups were sent in email.

Note from Carly:

As most of you know, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. This past October I found out that the cancer came back. Once the season is over (after region championship), I will be taking a few weeks off coaching to finish treatments. I will still be available to answer emails and address any concerns, you just may not see me in the gym very much. I will miss the girls and look forward to coming back healthy and ready to help the athletes be the best they can!

End of Year Banquet!

Bronze 1- Diamond athletes and their families are invited to join us at the end of the year banquet! The banquet will be held at the Bunker Hills Event Center on May 23rd. More information as well as a sign up will be sent soon!

Self-Check In

Please have your athletes check in for practice using the self-check in tablets located along the front desk. This will help prevent your athlete from being recorded as absent in our records. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out!

Summer Camps:

Interested in signing your athlete up for a summer gymnastic camp? Check out these options! Keep an eye out for sign up for Region 4 Xcel Camp (competitive experience Gold and higher required). The camps listed below have deadlines as early as MARCH and some may already have waitlists. Sign up quickly if interested.

*Hamline Camp - Week 1: June 17-21, Weekend Hi-Level Day Camp: June 22nd-23rd (recommended level 8, 9, 10), Week 2: June 24-28

Gustavus Camp - June 9-12 (age 9-18), June 16-19 (age 9-18), June 23-26 (grade 9-12), July 7-10 (age 9-18)

UWEC Camp (WI) - Camp #1 June 10-14 (ages 5-18), Camp #2 June 19-21 (high performance camp, ages 13-18, recommended 8-10 but open to all), Camp #3 June 26-28 (ages 5-18)

*UW Stout (WI) - Camp #1 June 16-18 (ages 9-18), Camp #2 June 20-22 (ages 9-18).

UW-La Crosse (WI) - July 27-28 (recreational and levels 1-8).

*Flip Fest - Weekly camps from June 9-August 9. Lots of fun with guest coaches, located in TN.

I personally don’t have much experience with any of these camps, but the ones with a * were recommended to me. I highly recommend the Xcel Region 4 Camp (Gold and up competitive experience required) if looking to do any gymnastics camps. The region 4 Xcel camp will have a coaches fee along with it as the camp requires the athletes to have their Xcel coach attend with them. I will update summer camps as I receive more information.

Ellie F.

Ellie is part of Jam Hops Bronze 2 team and was chosen because of her great attitude and hard work in the gym. When the conditioning is tough, Ellie powers through and works as hard as she can. Congratulations, Ellie!

Conferences are a great time to get feedback on your athlete’s progress as well as discuss goals for the next season. This may also be a good time to chat about any questions you may have!

Click the link below to sign up for parent/coach conferences. Conferences will be held either in person or online - please list your preference in the comment during the sign up. Athletes are not required to attend the conference, but it is encouraged!

This month we are focusing on resilience! Read through the article to help build mental strength for yourself and your teammates. Gymnastics requires strong mind and confident athletes. It is ok to have rough days and feel upset, but how you work through those feelings will make you a great gymnast!
